If you are wondering how well the T-Mobile International Pass or Simple Global International Data Work when traveling internationally, you will find this article very helpful.

NB: This article is based on our experiences with T-Mobile when traveling around the world.

Is Simple Global International Data worth it?

Yes and No. That’s because it depends on the destination you are traveling to.

However, on most of our international travels, it has always worked fine and only had a few problems in some countries that we visited.

NOTE: These are the countries on the list of 215+ countries covered by the T Mobile International plan.

I’d recommend you check out our previous articles on T-Mobile coverage in the following destinations.

Is an International Pass worth it?

It depends. As mentioned earlier, it depends on your destination.

In some destinations, the International Pass tends to be very reliable. But in some, you might experience headaches because of its unreliability, and may end up being a waste of money.

Additionally, it also depends on what you are going to be doing with your phone. If you will need to be on the internet most time then it is going to be worth it.

However, if you are not going to be doing much on your phone (just reading emails and social media, or if you’re just traveling for a few days) then it is up to you to decide if you will need it or not.

If it is unreliable, you can always ask for a refund once you get back home. I have never had problems with T-Mobile denying refunds.

International Pass in most cases makes sense if:

  • It does not break your budget. This is because there are other similar or even better alternatives.
  • If you do not have WiFi access at your destination, T-Mobile International Pass will be worth it.
  • When you get good coverage at your destination, this saves you so much hassle and time on your trip. You hence end up enjoying a stress-free trip.

Best T-Mobile alternatives when traveling outside the US

I’d recommend having a backup plan just in case you experience problems with the T-Mobile coverage while traveling abroad. And by backup plan, I mean:

  • Research in advance the best local SIM card in your destination that suits your needs.

This will mostly apply to travelers who have dual-SIM phones.

  • eSIM is also a great alternative because it saves you a lot of hassles.

In conclusion

In most countries that I have traveled to, I generally had a good experience using T-Mobile outside the US.

However, it is important to research T-Mobile coverage in your destination before traveling and ensure you prepare in advance.
